Welcome to The Meadow, nestled in a quiet corner of Broughton, Hampshire, The Meadow’s two acre setting is idyllic, peaceful and tucked away, yet still close to the convenience of this typical English country village.
Whether you prefer to take the rowing boat for a short lap around the lake, play tennis on the grass court, or sit quietly by the Wallop Brook watching the trout and ducklings cruise by, your time at The Meadow is your own to relax and enjoy the stunning setting as you wish.
You may decide to cook amazingly tasty local buffalo burgers over the fire pit under the stars or you can opt to take a short stroll to one of the local pubs for a meal or a tipple. Perhaps then finish your evening cosying up in front of the wood burner with a hot chocolate, or a large glass of wine - the choice is yours...
Our first glamping unit, Wild Billy's is an original Showman’s Wagon built around 1890 and used for many years as an authentic travelling gypsy home. During Wild Billy’s fairground days the Wagon was used as the backstop for the coconut shy (you can still see the dents in the wood if you look closely!

He is now fully restored so you can enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of sleeping in an original wagon - this cosy palace for two is uniquely inviting and a totally romantic experience!

You now have the chance to live like the Romanys by cooking with an authentic style tripod over an open fire - why not try cooking an original recipe created by Gypsy Joey Grey and loved by travellers for many years?

There are plenty of home comforts to make your stay luxurious - Wild Billy has a newly fitted wood burner, a comfy memory foam mattress and toasty warm double duck duvet with fur throw.
.
Imagine snuggling up in bed in the morning with a cuppa listening to the woodpecker chipping away, or sitting up and peek out into your stunning surroundings to see if you can spot our resident Kingfisher, or catch a glimpse of a roe deer walking past on The Meadow....

Wild Billy’s is the perfect place to totally relax!

Our second and most recent unit, Mary's Place is a gorgeous and completely unique glamping experience, amongst perfect surroundings!
Being only one of two glamping units in The Meadow’s private setting of two acres, Mary's Place is perfectly secluded and has plenty of space to help you spread out and relax.
Your bedroom is a sumptuous retreat of colour and indulgence, with the front wall of folding glass doors, deep pile carpet, super comfy bed and twinkling fairy lights to perfectly complete the romantic setting in this boutique bohemian space.
Draw back the curtain in the morning and step outside to find the most wonderful private setting, with the babbling Wallop Brook to one side and the sparkling expanse of a lake directly in front of you, complete with the resident moorhens and their four chicks!
Overlooking the lake there is a beautifully original summer house where the luxurious theme continues! Decked in warm, vibrant colours inside and out and situated on extensive decking stretching over the lake, this area is exclusively yours to use as you wish - relax on the bench while reading a book by the tranquillity of the lake, enjoy a meal on the deck, or sip a cup of tea sheltering from the elements inside the summer house.
Mary’s Place may be mainly off grid, but never fear, there are plenty of outdoor creature comforts too - from your large private outdoor area which includes a fire pit and cooking tripod, funky kitchen area, outdoor table and chairs and even your own leather couch & coffee table, all subtly bathed by solar lights.
You may decide to cook amazingly tasty local buffalo burgers over the fire pit under the stars or you can opt to take a short stroll to one of the local pubs for a meal or a tipple. Toilets & Showers
Each unit has it's own brand new compost toilet adjacent, a short scenic walk away you will find the showers. Each shower is themed and dedicated solely for use by one unit, so there is no sharing, you and your travel companion will have your own beautiful private hot shower (see FAQs for further info).
The Lake & Brook
The Wallop brook runs along the boundary of The Meadow and we have a number of vantage points for you to enjoy the view, perhaps with a glass of wine! Both Wild Billy's & Mary's Place are positioned overlooking opposite sides of the lake, so you can simply admire the view or join the resident ducks by taking a row in our boat, 'Solution'.
Wildlife

We are lucky enough to have a broad range of wildlife passing through - from ducks, ducklings and moorhens, to more common garden birds, plus woodpeckers and visits from swans, herons, egrets and geese. If your timing is right (and your eyes quick!) you may see the kingfisher, if not you will certainly get to meet our resident pheasant , Phil!
